Canada is an immigration loving country and continues to welcome immigrants. There are several options available for immigrating to Canada, some of which are briefly explored below. Do not hesitate to schedule a consultation to explore options that may be best suited to you.
STUDENT PERMIT
Canadian institutions of learning welcome lots of international students every year. Foreign candidates can apply for student permit if they are enrolled at a designated learning institution in addition to other eligibility requirements. International students have responsibilities while in Canada and may have conditions attached to their permits. Some people are also exempted from the requirement to hold a study permit. Note that the study permit is not a visa.
VISITORS VISA
People who wish to visit Canada can apply for a visitor’s visa. It is also called a temporary resident visa. Some people may be able to apply for a visitor visa from within Canada. Permanent residents and Citizens can invite their parents or grandparents through the super visa platform. This visa allows the holders to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time.
EXPRESS ENTRY
The express entry program is a federal program that offers an opportunity for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada. One may be eligible for this program under three headings:
- Canadian Experience Class
- Federal Skilled Workers Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAMS
All provinces except Quebec have provincial nominee programs. These programs are usually targeted at candidates with certain skills or connections to the province.
Each province has its eligibility requirements. The nominations are open to people who:
- Meet the provincial requirements;
- Wish to live in that province
- Desire to become permanent residents of Canada.
CAREGIVER PROGRAMS
Candidates who provide care services may immigrate to Canada under this head. Caregivers can come to Canada through the home support worker pilot. This program is currently accepting candidates until a cap of 2750 applications is received for the year.
WORK PERMIT
A work permit is required by most people to work in Canada. Candidates may be eligible for an employer-specific work permit or open work permit.
